Although stealing visual and aural ideas from The Shining, Hammer Films and The Exorcist, this affecting little horror movie works its magic.
There is actually a story here of true love and the risks the hero is prepared to take to save the love of his life. Because of this theme, the emphasis here is more on emotions and frightening the audience than gore and grossness.
The characterization is a little too thin for its own good and the supernatural mythology presented is purest mumbo-jumbo - but this is all good, clean scary fun.
