Crazy Heart

(2009)

RATING:100%
FORMAT:DVD

Mature romantic drama about personal redemption featuring outstanding performances from Maggie GYLLENHAAL and Jeff BRIDGES.

The best actors are able to appear naked before each other - emotionally - as well as before the audience; thereby producing dramaturgical magic. Emotionally-involving to the nth degree, this one reaches the parts few contemporary US movies are able to reach. What it lacks in originality it more than makes up for in imaginative presentation and sheer human empathy.

There is, and can be, no forgiveness here - only an acceptance of one’s errors; without self-pity and with the desire to move on emotionally and to not expect others to accommodate ones failings. The hardest lesson is the one you learn the most from; the one from which there was no going back because that would be to return to the self-indulgence that caused the problem in the first place. Here is a man who takes his punishment and eventually learns to embrace it - as all true adults must.

Führerprinzip:

One leader, one people, signifies one master and millions of slaves… There is no organ of conciliation or mediation interposed between the leader and the people, nothing in fact but the apparatus - in other words, the party - which is the emanation of the leader and the tool of his will to oppress. In this way the first and sole principle of this degraded form of mysticism is born, the Führerprinzip, which restores idolatry and a debased deity to the world of nihilism.
