Dashavatar

(2008)

RATING:80%
FORMAT:DVD

With each generation, there arises a battle between good and evil. To counter this, the Lord Vishnu regularly comes to Earth in the guise of one of his ten avatars to do battle with evil and protect good; including defending the other gods.

This animation should have been quite repetitious, but each episode dramatically builds upon its central theme until it reaches a climax straight out of the Mahabarata - with its inevitable analogue to the political crises of today.

A fast-moving film and the ten episodes are seamlessly integrated into the whole. The animation is rather good – although not quite up to the Disney or Pixar standards – and the music is rather more melodious and tuneful than usually found in Bollywood movies, albeit alongside the usual heavy Indian rhythms.

Führerprinzip:

One leader, one people, signifies one master and millions of slaves… There is no organ of conciliation or mediation interposed between the leader and the people, nothing in fact but the apparatus - in other words, the party - which is the emanation of the leader and the tool of his will to oppress. In this way the first and sole principle of this degraded form of mysticism is born, the Führerprinzip, which restores idolatry and a debased deity to the world of nihilism.
