A good although none-too-subtle comedy about family – told through the lens of cultural identity and nationalistic chauvinism.
It scores heavily in describing the problem situation of two lovers from different cultures, but partly ruins the denouement by claiming that such differences can be overcome by a facile speech at the movie’s end. There is a reason different cultures exist: It is because some attitudes to life are simply incompatible with one another - and always will be.
That said, there is no doubting the good-natured humour of the film as it charts the preparations for the wedding.
