All in the Family
Cartoon humor, of the Wile E Coyote variety, is much in evidence in this movie’s exploration of the typical childhood problems of sibling rivalry, sexual jealousy, White whining, Materialism versus Love - just like any other functional family. The running-joke, of course, is that this family is more rational than the normal ones - despite appearances.
The peculiar aspect of White culture highlighted is the odd inability of Whites to tolerate the pleasures of others (their ability to experience pleasure, as such), along with the resultant White desire to thrust their anhedonia down everyone else’s throats. Trying to force others to fake happiness, as Whites themselves do, explains puerile White cultural products like The Brady Bunch, the racist hypocrisy of Thanksgiving and the White sense of inbred entitlement.
A paean to the Family, as such, that is hard to beat. Its characters are not as fully-developed as one would have liked, but they reflect a family of strong, loving bonds and solid moral premises.
