Primer
(2004)

RATING:80%
FORMAT:DVD

An interesting look at the cultural void of Western culture. Two backyard scientists make a scientific breakthrough, yet decide to use it to get-rich-quick by keeping the secret to themselves. This leads to the inevitable Treasure of the Sierra Madre infighting with both good and bad consequences for some.

The decided flatness of the acting presents us with a look at Westerners that shows them as they are: Spiritually empty, narcissistic and materialistic; while trying to hide these serious flaws behind a mask of inscrutability that reveals them by its blankness.

A structurally-complex film that tries to force you to think about the ethical and political issues involved and largely succeeds.
