Lady Nelligan’s Lover

Essentially an adaptation of Lady Chatterley’s Lover in a wartime setting, this gives the ever-excellent Kate NELLIGAN a perfect opportunity to show how good she is in an unusual love story.

Despite being carefully-crafted and enjoyable to watch, the basic problem here is that NELLIGAN and her co-star lack the necessary chemistry to make this the real, full-throttle tearjerker that it is only partially successful in being.

Nevertheless, this is not at all bad for all that and makes a refreshing change from the usual, formulaic war-movie fare one has become resigned to.
