Easily one of the most contrived and absurd plots ever devised: The acting, songs and characterizations are equally mediocre and there is no theme to speak of.
However, as usual with the man, Fred ASTAIRE manages to achieve the seemingly-impossibly with his feet. His grace, style, wit and sheer sophistication almost make up for the failings of this movie.
Nowhere near as good as White Christmas.
