START TREK VI:
The Undiscovered Country
(1991)

Wonderful science-fiction movie that veers into political satire and self-parody. The plot makes little sense but makes little matter because the film is designed for sheer entertainment purposes - especially Star Trek fans. For anyone familiar with the clichés of the tv series the plot will be predictably-enjoyable and the performances from the cast familiarly-comfortable.

In truth, this is a metaphorical look at the end of the Cold War which is perfectly suited to the optimistic and pacifistic nature of the tv series; leaving one with a good uplift of one's morale with a story of a peace dividend resulting from the collapse of the Klingon Empire. One of the better Star Trek films although not as good as The Wrath of Khan.
