Family Values

Sophisticated and subtle romantic comedy that is also a paean to the theory and practice of the family.

The plotting and characterization are slight but the performances are all funny and the sense of a functional community powerful. No matter how oddly ones own family behaves they are the source of ones sense of identity and are to be treasured if only for that.

A Woody Allen movie but with much less neurosis.
